Thank you all very much for your help.

I did now like:

$ wget
$ tar xvzf apache-tomcat-6.0.20.tar.gz
$ cp MapFishPrintModule/print-servlet/target/print-servlet-1.1.war
$ cd apache-tomcat-6.0.20/bin
$ ./

....and all the problems are gone :-)
