The "event" most important stuff is the HttpSession (I would even say it's the only stuff, and we can't work at all with it whithout getting the IllegalStateException. And reading the spec, I agree that any call made "by a request" after the session was invalidated must throw the Exception, but not the ones made in the valueUnbound.
