be included in the sort, using the Data | Sort ... menu Options, and arrange

This is a common practice.

Having column labels assumed by default is by design.

Also, you can tell when there are presumed to be header labels, because they
show up as the names of columns instead of "Column A", "Column B", etc., on the
Data | Sort ... | Sort Criteria pull-downs.
