I can imagine it being helpful in some cases or versions of Cassandra if they are memory issues/leaks or something like that, going wrong, but 'normally', you should not have to do that. Even more, when doing so, you'll have to 'warm up' C* again to get to full speed, such as loading the page/key caches again and some other stuff like starting over compactions that were interrupted might even slow down the cluster somewhat. Let's just say it should not harm (much), it might even be useful in some corner cases, but restarting the cluster regularly, for no reasons, is definitely not part of 'best practices' around Cassandra imho. No this s= hould not be a 'normal' / 'routine' thing in a Cassandra cl= uster.
