Subject [jira] [Commented] (ACCUMULO-4171) Update to htrace-core4
Date Thu, 07 Jul 2016 03:58:11 GMT

Sean Busbey commented on ACCUMULO-4171:

What would alleviate those concerns though? e.g. I haven't seen anything in the HTrace community
to suggest the issue I mentioned around upgrades has changed. Hadoop has a stated policy of
not promising to avoid changes in dependencies across minor versions (or really any versions:
[ref hadoop compat policy|]).

We're already out of sync for tracing through to Hadoop for anything other than Hadoop 2.7.z.
Do we need to go the shim route to try to handle tracing through to multiple versions? Or
do we just bump our version along with Hadoop updates?

on the way to HTrace 4.x-incubating, and we should stay up to date with those changes.
> Currently you can extend Accumulo tracing down into HDFS if you're using Accumulo 1.7
and Hadoop 2.7. This ticket is for continuing to make that work for versions of Hadoop >
