Do you think it's achievable?
   
   I was digging around in Socket trying to get access to this. It's not exposed back up through
the Socket API at all. I think I'd have to be writing JNI and getting at the underlying JVM
code to figure it out.
   
   I could modify the respective factories to allow better for mocking, but I fear that will
be a little contrived? Happy to try it if you see value.
