    @phunt I asked around quickly:
    HBase - own library (looks like they've started to use dropwizard somehow)
    HDFS - Hadoop Metrics2 (included in hadoop-common)
    Kafka - Yammer (dropwizard predecessor)
    Cassandra - Yammer
    
    I'll give dropwizard a try first.
