I'm not familiar with the servlet example, but normally in a servlet you'd 
set the content-disposition header:

     HttpServletResponse aResponse;   // assume you have this
     aResponse.addHeader("Content-Disposition", "attachment; filename=\"" + aName + ".pdf\"");
