Subject RE: Encryption

Keiron,

The existing encryption model (V 1) will work with 1.3 & 1.4. PDF 1.4 adds
some additional features with V 2 & 3. If it is ok with you after we get V 1
stablized on on the current code, I'd like to look at the redesigned code
and add V 1 then V 2. V 3 is unpublished and probably out of the question. V
2 adds encryption key lengths above 40 up to 128, reduced quality printing,
extract of text and graphics for the accessibility to disabled users,
interactive forms control, etc.

If I'm going over things you already know OR you already have somebody
working these issues, just let me know.

What are your thoughts?

Pat Lankswert

The redesign code generates PDF 1.4 (which currently is used in a completely
backwards/forwards compatible way).
How does the compatibilty of encryption work. Can it have the 1.4 features
and
still work in 1.3?
