Subject Re: CVS and Subversion
Date Sat, 12 Jun 2004 01:04:26 GMT
Glen,

There are a number of ASF members and committers who are involved in
the Subversion project. This has been well known since at least 2001.
Every year at ApacheCon there has been a presentation on Subversion.
Many of us have been waiting for Subversion to be ready, and this
pre-dates Greg's chairmanship.

There are a number of technical reasons why Subversion is preferable to
CVS. Please remember that the people who are running the ASF
infrastructure are volunteers, in addition to be developers on Apache
projects. Anything that we can do to ease the burden on these folks is
a benefit to the entire foundation. Of course more volunteers to help
with infrastructure tasks would be good too.

Ted
