I wrote a cocoon module that does exactly that (called PathExpander) 
will end up in Cocoon as soon as it's finished, but it does the job 
pretty well and it's fully compatible with batch generation.

I also plan to finish the paginator module that will turn a lengthy page 
into more pages and deal with pagination links and all that.

Anyway, my suggestion is to come up with a dirty skeleton to start from 
and cocoon people (me, Berin or others) will chime in to smooth the 
rough edges.

Note that we are also discussing the "editing" part of the content using 
OpenOffice over WebDAV, but I guess you'll have to wait a little for that :)
