Subject Re: [Vote] XML Database Project Name

I don't like Xilo but Silo on its own actually isn't a bad name. However,
as far as I know we have enough votes to move forward with Xindice. This
is especially true when you consider the 7 +1s that came within the
current dbXML user community. We considered about 30 different names
before choosing this one. Unless somebody wants to strongly object I'd say
we just move forward so that we can get down to real work on this.

You can think about it this way too. Xindice is basically a new word and
as such we're defining what it means and how it is supposed to be
pronounced. We defined the pronunciation as zen-dee-chay because it flows
nicely and sounds kind of classy, but it really doesn't matter how you say
it. I imagine native English speakers might say x-in-dee-cee and there's
nothing wrong with that. Linux has the same problem and only real geeks
care how you say it. What's important is that the name is unique,
recognizable and has the potential to gain strong name recognition. We're
basically creating a brand and when you see the word Xindice there will be
no ambiguity as to what it means.
