Subject Revisiting an often asked question

Have I misunderstood something or is it not yet possible to access a DTD
file in some structured manner with Xerces-J?

I need to read in and parse a DTD file (without any document that uses it)
and traverse the structure defined therein.

I have studied XGrammarWriter, but it seems to need the a Document, as does
all the .parse() methods I have found.

I know that many other people are missing a similar feature - it was in
XML4J, and it worked perfectly. It would be a shame to have to stick with
XML4J 2.x in order to do this.
