Craig L Russell commented on LEGAL-334:

Thank you for respecting the Apache License, and for acknowledging the attribution requirements.

This is not legal advice. Please consult with your own counsel.

The Apache License was written to allow users to use Apache code for their own purposes, including
the choice to publish changes or not, the choice of how to license, and how to distribute
the code. In particular, there is no requirement to license your own code as open source.

> Hello,
> I am Kamlesh from Dubai.
> We are developing a CRM software as PAAS and also SAAS. For some of the components of
our software we want to use Apache source code. I understand from http://www.apache.org/foundation/license-faq.html#WhatDoesItMEAN
that we can use it for our commercial software.
> My question is do we need to make our software that includes apache code, open source
as well or it can be a private application built with Apache open source code?
> I understand we need to give proper attribution as per license terms but i am not clear
whether our end product also has to be an open source product if it includes Apache source
> Appreciate your feedback to enable us take an informed and legally appropriate decision.
> Thank you
> Kamlesh
