Roy T. Fielding commented on LEGAL-330:

It looks okay to me (i.e., it is effectively within the scope of the Apache License 2.0).

> Inclusion of code from WebRTC (3-clause BSD plus PATENTS)
> ---------------------------------------------------------
> Key: LEGAL-330
> URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/LEGAL-330
> Project: Legal Discuss
> Issue Type: Question
> Reporter: Todd Lipcon
> The Kudu project would like to import a small chunk of utility code sourced from WebRTC:
> The license is 3-clause BSD plus a PATENTS file: https://chromium.googlesource.com/external/webrtc/+/master/PATENTS
> The PATENTS file seems to be a fairly standard: if you sue us over patents in this source
code (and only in this source code) you will lose your grant to any other patents covered
by this source code (and only in this source code). This seems quite similar to Apache's patent
language, but wanted to double check that inclusion of this code is permissible.
> (note that it's virtually impossible that the particular file in question is covered
by any patents, since it's basically "trivial" to recreate for any C++ programmer, we just
wanted to save time by borrowing this one)
