Sebb commented on LEGAL-291:

The referenced file headers include the following sentence:

{quote}
   As a special exception, you may create a larger work that contains
   part or all of the Bison parser skeleton and distribute that work
   under terms of your choice, so long as that work isn't itself a
   parser generator using the skeleton or a modified version thereof
   as a parser skeleton.
{quote}

IANAL but that looks like it should cover the usage within httpd.
Or is the httpd bison-generated code itself a parser generator?
Or maybe some other reason why the clause does not apply?

> The httpd source distribution contains a parser generated by GNU bison. We currently
distribute the generated parser as opposed to depending on GNU bison to generate it at build
time.
> It is not really optional in any meaningful way.
> It seems like its terms technically limit what you can do with something based on httpd.
 We don't currently list anything about this issue in NOTICE/LICENSE.

> Is there any way to keep this generated code?
