Subject [Trademarks]: product names
Date Wed, 04 Jan 2017 10:22:57 GMT
Hi all,

In http://www.apache.org/foundation/marks/contact section 'Uses in Software
Products' the following is stated in the first paragraph:

we do not generally allow third parties to use Apache brands in their
software product branding

Does this mean that any 3-party software product with a combination of
'Foo' (where Foo stands for the name of the product of an Apache project)
and 'WhatEver' (with or without the use of punctuation marks) is a
trademark infringement, and that any such software product accessible
through public software repositories (GitHub, SourceForge, etc.) should be
reported to the Brand Management Office of the ASF?

Best regards,

Pierre Smits
