Sathwik Bantwal Premakumar commented on LEGAL-278:

Here is the response from JS Foundation to my query. I had requested if they comment comment
on this ticket but they responded directly to me.

Hello Sathwik,

Projects in the JS Foundation are always licensed by the license in the repo and the code
just like any other open source project. Our IP Policy states that projects default to Apache
2 but can use another license with approval. All projects that were part of the jQuery Foundation
continue to use their previous license so jQuery will continue to be MIT.

> Hi,
> JQuery release 3.1.1 is under MIT
> https://github.com/jquery/jquery/blob/3.1.1/LICENSE.txt
> The same github page also has a reference to website https://jquery.com/
> The license link on website https://jquery.com/ points to
> https://jquery.org/license/ which seems now to be ASL 2.0
> We know that MIT and ASL are compatible.
> *The question is from which location does one pickup the license from?*
> *Do we always rely on the license under the source repository or from the referenced
