Subject [jira] [Closed] (LEGAL-245) Use of org.json in Apache Projects
Date Thu, 07 Apr 2016 05:00:30 GMT

Henri Yandell closed LEGAL-245.
    Resolution: Fixed

It's the software that http://www.apache.org/legal/resolved.html#json refers to.

Note that Debian have considered this to be non-DFSG compatible, so Apache projects wanting
to be included in the default Debian repositories should avoid this.

It would be nice to move Apache projects off of this, especially as I think there may be better
alternatives nowadays, but given the years of use I suspect it's quite embedded in our overall
dependency tree.

> org.json license is not on the explicitly approved list and even though the license itself
is acceptable it contains the "The Software shall be used for Good, not Evil."
> Maven Repo: http://mvnrepository.com/artifact/org.json/json
> License: http://www.json.org/license.html
> Can this library be used from a legal standpoint?
