Subject [jira] [Commented] (LEGAL-174) Creating an Apple Developer Account for distribution of iOS applications in the App Store

Mark Thomas commented on LEGAL-174:

I called Apple, explained that David was a director and could, therefore, sign the ASF up
for pretty much whatever he liked and the very helpful Apple employee clicked the magic button
that allowed the application to progress.

The agreement has been updated but the part we care about is unchanged. If we write an app,
submit it to the app store, Apple accept it and sign it then we can only distribute that signed
binary via Apple. That doesn't limit us distributing our code any way we like.

I'm just waiting on David's approval to bill his credit card for the $99 program fee.

In the mean time, any PMC that wants to submit applications to Apple's app store needs one
or more committers to sign up for an Apple ID with their ASF e-mail address and then open
an INFRA Jira ticket to associate those Apple IDS with the ASF. Please use the code-signing
component. I will then send them a copy of the Ts&Cs that they must agree to adhere to
then they'll get added.
