Sam Ruby resolved LEGAL-223.
----------------------------
    Resolution: Not A Problem

From: http://www.apache.org/legal/

"Apache appreciates feedback on our licenses, agreements and processes. Sadly, we are unable
to offer legal opinions or advice to the public. For more general information on copyright,
patent and trademark law"

That being said, the answer to your question can be found here:

http://www.apache.org/licenses/LICENSE-2.0#redistribution

In particular:

"You may add Your own copyright statement to Your modifications and may provide additional
or different license terms and conditions for use, reproduction, or distribution of Your modifications,
or for any such Derivative Works as a whole, provided Your use, reproduction, and distribution
of the Work otherwise complies with the conditions stated in this License. "

I encourage you to read 4a through 4d carefully.

> I want to provide binary packages of the Apache Subversion package for Windows.
> It's simply building the source packages as they are provided in the SVN-repository,
building it using the required tools/dependencies, packing together the exe/pdb-files and
ship that under the distribution name (MaxSVN).
> Is it legal/allowed to distribute that project (MaxSVN) under the MIT-license?
> I could only find answers on the web regarding questions the other way around (aka: Using
software/sourcecode under the MIT license for/in a project which is licensed under the Apache
License).
