The only place we seem to differ is on the nature and format of the archived content: I still advocate linking to old SVN over duping the content to an archive directory. Yes, the raw Markdown will be ugly and hard to read, but that's a feature not a bug -- no one will accidentally mistake it for live content, as is happening now despite the labeling. If people arrive at the page in the archive directory via a search engine, won't the confusion continue? Also, even we're maintaining a skeleton page at the old URL, I'd like to kill off the link to it from [http://www.apache.org/legal/]. It may seem like overkill to continue pursuing these minor points, but I think it's worthwhile to set a good precedent for how to deal with outdated content. > Obsolete Third-Party Licensing Policy page still being quoted / used > -------------------------------------------------------------------- > > Key: LEGAL-214 > URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/LEGAL-214 > Project: Legal Discuss > Issue Type: Task > Reporter: Sebb > > The Third-Party Licensing Policy [1] has been replaced by ASF Legal Previously Asked Questions [2]. > However I've twice seen posts recently which rely on it. > I added some more text to hopefully make it clearer that the page is obsolete. > Perhaps it is time to consider removing the page? > Or maybe move the page and leave only a page that has the header info directing users to the new page. > I think people tend to ignore the header currently, so if there were only the header this would be impossible. > [1] http://www.apache.org/legal/3party.html > [2] http://www.apache.org/legal/resolved.html -- This message was sent by Atlassian JIRA (v6.3.4#6332) --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: legal-discuss-unsubscribe@apache.org For additional commands, e-mail: legal-discuss-help@apache.org
