The ICLA is totally unrelated= to participation on the mailing lists

The majority= of ASF mailing lists are publicly archived by the ASF and third party servi= ces can crawl that data and do what they want with that public information

If you are worried about the privacy implications of= emailing a public list then you probably should be using a pseudonym or thr= owaway email address.  This would hold true of any public mailing list = on the internet not just those at the ASF

As it has been said:= submission of the iCLA is sollicited...

Are there numbe= rs available on how many contributors there are without having submitted the= iCLA? And on how many did (and/or still) contribute without it?

Apart from that, the iCLA doesn't state that postings in mailing lis= ts is shared with third parties, like markmail= .org and nabble.com. A little test on nabble.com will reveal that any poster of a me= ssage in an ASF project's mailing list can be mailed (directly) from that pl= atform.

Hi P= ierre,

Apache is a public charity foundation. Please read= and understand this: http://www.apache.org/foundation/faq.html
<= br>
Apache projects generally operate in the open, with open mail = lists, open code bases, open discussions.

Apache ge= nerally takes contributions made willingly and wittingly. In order to contri= bute to Apache projects, an individual contributor license agreement is soli= cited: htt= p://www.apache.org/licenses/icla.txt

The = information on this form is confidential and only accessible to officers of = the foundation and not disclosed to third parties.

The informa= tion on this form is confidential and only accessible to officers and mem= bers of the foundation and infrastructure contractors and not dis= closed to third parties.

If you have specific = questions after reading the above, please let us know.

As the Apache Foundation is the legal representative, it seems t= o be that there should be some documents regarding this.
