Louis Suarez-Potts commented on LEGAL-174:
------------------------------------------

I think there is confusion here, and I apologize for contributing to it. I--duh--just read
the actual title of this issue, Legal-174. I'll try to clarify.

1. I agree: no urgent need for iOS distribution, at least for Apache OpenOffice (I cannot
speak for other apps in Apacheland). Why no urgency? Because we have nothing, as in zilch,
to distribute.

2. When I commented earlier, I misread (actually didn't read; didn't see) the title/heading/subject
of this issue. I had interpreted it to refer to the Apple App Store. And that App Store differs
from the iTunes App Store.

Explanation:

** The Apple App Store is where "authorized" Apple Mac OS X software is distributed by default
to the ifans. There's not much open source software there but there are several competitors
to Apache OpenOffice (that is, non-Microsoft productivity suites/apps of varying quality and
comprehensiveness). There is also the OpenOffice-based NeoOffice, which is available for a
fee from the App Store (not iTunes, though there is a viewer app listed there).

** The iTunes App store is used for iDevices, of course, and is not our (or at any rate, my)
target, at this point. It would be good, and even nice, to have an account with the iTunes
App Store, should we indeed have apps we want widely distributed among iOS users.

- Summary: To have an account with Apple that would allow us to list Apache OpenOffice (or
any other Apache product) on the Apple App Store for OS X.

thnx
louis

> Hello, I'm seeking approval for Apache Cordova from VP of Legal to create an Apple Developer
Account for distribution of iOS apps in the App Store. This is the information and/or authority
required to register for the program:
> - The legal authority to bind your company/organization to Apple Developer Program legal
agreements.
> - A registered legal entity name. This name will appear as the "Seller" in the App Store.
> - Address for the company’s principal place of business or corporate headquarters.
> - A D-U-N-S Number assigned to a legal entity. Learn more.
> - A valid credit card for purchase.
