John Hewson commented on LEGAL-195:

We use JAI in non-test code too but not for "normal use", we only use it when it exists in
the classpath. Currently the user is required to download JAI themselves but could we add
the same Maven dependency to our non-test code so that the .jar is automatically downloaded
for the user? It would not be bundled inside any Apache .jar files, but placed next to them
in the target directory.

> Java Advanced Imaging is under the Binary Code License which is prohibited for use in
Apache projects: https://www.apache.org/legal/resolved.html#prohibited
> But can we use JAI as a dependency via Maven?
