Subject [jira] [Commented] (LEGAL-180) Distribute VMware copyrighted WSDL to interface w/ propriatary SOAP service
Date Fri, 04 Oct 2013 17:23:42 GMT

Chip Childers commented on LEGAL-180:

FWIW, I found this: https://communities.vmware.com/docs/DOC-7983

Which leads me to this: https://communities.vmware.com/viewwebdoc.jspa?documentID=DOC-10141

Which lists the WSDL as something that can be distributed, but isn't clear about the terms
of distribution.

[~darren0] Perhaps an email to sdk_legal@vmware.com (cc'ing private@cloudstack.apache.org
) is in order, asking specifically about VMware's terms for the WSDL file?

> Apache CloudStack needs to interact with a proprietary VMware SOAP web service. We would
like to package the VMware WSDL and the corresponding XSD files in order to run the Apache
CXF wsdl2java tool. wsdl2java will produce Java client stubs that can be used to interface
with the SOAP API. The WSDLs and XSDs were obtained from the VMware SDK and are all copyrighted
as follows: "Copyright 2005-2012 VMware, Inc. All rights reserved."
