As long as the licensing is OK I don't see any big problems with that.

Note however that if you want to publish the results of such builds on
the central Maven repository, you'll need to get rid of such custom
repository dependencies.

Also, the lifetimes of such custom repositories are typically pretty
limited. Can you rely on those artifacts to be there still next year?
Or five years from now? It might be wiser to keep local copies of such
dependencies or to encourage the upstream to upload those artifacts
directly to the central repository.
