Subject Shindig logo

Shindig has held a vote for a new logo. The winner was #4 here [1].

Ben Smith has mentioned that he is prepared to grant rights to the logo
to the ASF.

Then, it came to light that the logo used was produced by Arne
Roomann-Kurrik, published on google code, and licensed with the Creative
Commons Attribution-Share Alike license.

Arne wants the logo to remain available under this license, but is
prepared to grant a specific use of it under ASF acceptable terms to the

So, my questions are:

1) Is it acceptable to have a portion of one's logo that is otherwise 
   open source?
2) If it is, what documentation to Ben and Arne need to complete for 
   this graphic to be usable as a logo within the ASF?
