Anecdote warning,

If you have an interest in Java history; The first releases of Java
had 3 expressed field of use restrictions (IIRC),
1. Life support systems (medical equipment).
2. Aviation
3. Nuclear facilities.

The reason I remember is that I developed an application framework on
top of Java (started in 1996, v.1.0.2) and needed to push the same
field-of-use restrictions down-stream to my users. And the "Nuclear
part" actually had impact... :-(

So, if you are only speaking of sticking stuff onto repo.maven.org, I think you are fine (provided
you manage the pom.xml <license> properly).
