Subject [jira] [Created] (INFRA-12692) Very slow builds on Jenkins
Date Mon, 03 Oct 2016 11:38:20 GMT
Robert Munteanu created INFRA-12692:
---------------------------------------

Summary: Very slow builds on Jenkins
                 Key: INFRA-12692
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/INFRA-12692
             Project: Infrastructure
          Issue Type: Improvement
          Components: Jenkins
            Reporter: Robert Munteanu

I just noticed that our build jobs have an extremely large build time compared to what Maven
reports.

For instance https://builds.apache.org/view/S-Z/view/Sling/job/sling-samples-slingshot-1.8/lastSuccessfulBuild/
( job will be kept forever ) has the following results:

- 32 min building on an executor
- Maven build time: 01:33 min

I would expect Jenkins to have some overhead ( SVN checkout, parsing results, etc ) but more
than 20x seems excessive.

It would be great to understand why this happens - is this a misconfiguration from our part
or something that can be fixed by infra.
