Subject [jira] [Updated] (INFRA-11942) Incubator causes problems for Pony Mail
Date Fri, 20 May 2016 10:04:12 GMT

Sebb updated INFRA-11942:
-------------------------
Status: Waiting for Infra (was: Closed)

Incubator dev is fixed. Thanks.

But the other issues are not.

The -ppmc lists are very confusing.

Note that they don't appear in the existing mail-search, because they were merged into private
when the lists were renamed.

I found the single mail to yoko-ppmc in Mar 2006; that appears in

https://mail-search.apache.org/members/private-arch/incubator-yoko-private/200603.mbox/thread

Pony Mail should merge them too.
Not least because it increases the length of the already overlong drop-down.

As to sorting by usage, IMO that is not at all user-friendly.

If it were the best way to present lists, why is it not done for the available projects list
as well?

Even for very short lists it's confusing if they are sorted by usage.
I am active on several projects; these have different mail list profiles so the various lists
appear in different places. And potentially the order will change between visits.

Note that the incubator will need special treatment; it should show its own lists first.

> When selecting incubator, frequently it tries to display dev@ which does not exist.
> The drop-down "Other lists" is unsorted, which is a pain.
> It contains a lot of entries of the form yoko-ppmc@.
> All of the ones I have tried have had no mails.
