Subject [jira] [Commented] (INFRA-10826) Would like a pull/push --force for removing a 3 Mb binary file

Martin Desruisseaux commented on INFRA-10826:
---------------------------------------------

The work currently happen outside ASF while waiting for resolution of this issue. The proposed
fix is not critical - the issue could be closed as "will not fix". But we are holding the
commits in the meantime. An alternative would be to migrate the SIS project from SVN to Git,
which (in my understanding) would allow SIS developers to do a "push --force" on the branch
themselves.

> A 3 Mb binary file has been committed on SVN in a branch of Apache SIS (https://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/sis/branches/JDK8/)
and immediately mirrored on Git (git://git.apache.org/sis.git). I presume that we can not
delete that binary file from SVN history, but it would be nice (while not critical) to remove
that binary file from Git history for lighter clones by users. This commit has never been
merged to trunk or master.
> A clone has been created on Github with two commits squashed:
> The squashed commits cancel the inclusion of the binary files. Would it be possible to
perform a "push --force" of the JDK8 branch from this clone to git://git.apache.org/sis.git
and to https://github.com/apache/sis? We are stopping commits on SVN in the meantime.
> If this issue can not be fixed, its okay. It is only a "would be nice" action.
