Subject [jira] [Commented] (INFRA-10626) LDAP library for projects-vm
Date Tue, 20 Oct 2015 18:47:27 GMT

Sebb commented on INFRA-10626:

Is it possible to add a command to copy the installed package from one python lib to the other?
In this case from
ls /usr/local/lib/python2.7/dist-packages
ls /usr/local/lib/python3.4/dist-packages

Or is it possible to directly install ldap3 into a non-default directory?
I used pip install -t /...Python3.4/.. to install it on MacOSX, so the command here would
pip install -t /usr/local/lib/python3.4/dist-packages ldap3

Seems to me that this Python2/3 dilemma is going to occur again with another package, so finding
a solution would be good.

> The apps that run on projects-vm.apache.org need access to LDAP.
> Of course it is possible to use command-line ldapsearch, but that is quite messy.
> The apps are currently written in Python, for which there seems to be an ldap library:
> Would it be possible to install this on projects-vm?
> If this is not suitable, are there any other ldap packages (e.g. for Perl or Ruby) that
could be installed on the host?
