Subject [jira] [Commented] (INFRA-9922) Cannot get ortpasswd to work on projects-vm

Sebb commented on INFRA-9922:
-----------------------------

I'm afraid it still does not work.

Logged in, tried

sudo who

Password generated OK but not accepted.

Then tried ortpasswd again while logged in as myself.

That does not work either; tried both paste any manual typing.
[By the way, does it accept either case? And are spaces signficant?]

Note that the system login message says that a reboot is required; I don't suppose that is
relevant?

> I cannot get ortpasswd to accept the generated OTP on projects-vm.
> I ran ortpasswd and it displayed "opt-md5 500 prnnnn".
> I entered this in SkeyCalc (MacOSX Yosemite) and pasted the output into the prompt. I
don't remember if it was accepted or not. I had some problems; I expected ortpasswd to echo
the input if one starts by pressing enter, but it seems that is not supported. Maybe that
messed things up.
> When I try again, it displays "opt-md5 499 prnnnn" which suggests that it may have accepted
the first attempt. However even though my password is stored in the keychain, so should be
correct; I cannot get it to accept the password.
> Am I doing something wrong?
> Perhaps the ortpasswd state could be reset so I could try again?
> Thanks
> I am using SkeyCalc on MacOSX
