Andrew Bayer commented on INFRA-8868:

I'm guessing that slave didn't come up right - that does seem to happen sporadically, and
I haven't been able to come up with a way for Jenkins to easily detect that and toss the slave
when that happens. When a dynamically provisioned slave goes idle for long enough, it gets
marked for removal - at that point, no jobs can start on it, and the slave will be destroyed

Do you have a link to the failing job?

>            Priority: Blocker
> Currently jobs giving an error message:
> [FATAL] Non-readable settings /home/jenkins/.m2/settings.xml: input contained no data
@ /home/jenkins/.m2/settings.xml
> which looks like there is something missing on the hard drive ?
> The following node is used:
> https://builds.apache.org/computer/jenkins-ubuntu-1404-4gb-505/
> which is marked with {{Slave is pending removal.}} but why are running jobs on that machine...
> Furthermore i can the buttons {{Bring this Node online}} and {{Update offline reason}}
which looks for me a problem in permissions (I'm a Maven PMC member)..
