Sebb commented on INFRA-8747:

I realise that it works under zsh.

But it works under bash on my Mac and Ubuntu.

According to Google, the /dev/fd error is a problem with the bash installation, and it can
cause product installations to fail, as they may use the construct.

[1] suggests that the solution may be the version of bash:

"ahah, the problem seams to be the package, installing bash/bash-static from ports fixes the
issue :)" (sic)

If this feature of bash is broken, what else is wrong with it?
Did it break when the recent security patch was introduced?

> It looks like process substitution is no longer working on minotaur.
> For example:
> $ cat <(date)
> cat: /dev/fd/63: No such file or directory
> I'm 99.9% certain this used to work for me on minotaur.
