Patrick Wendell commented on INFRA-8582:

Thanks for addressing this Mark - we're back! One thing I wanted to mention - I've seen on
a number of occasion users trigger this by accidentally trying to configure git over SSH (or
trying to SSH into the git address to test if it works). I know because I did it myself a
few months ago. Could the number of failed attempts that trigger this be increased for the
git-wip host? Maybe these are the "steps" you are referring to :)

> Key: INFRA-8582
> URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/INFRA-8582
> Project: Infrastructure
> Issue Type: Bug
> Components: Git, JIRA

> For the last 24 hours we haven't been able to access several Apache services (JIRA, git-wip,
and others) from within our corporate network. We are right in the middle of a Spark release
deadline and this has caused an increase in activity including pushes to git, JIRA activity,
etc. My guess is we tripped some kind of DDOS protection.
> This is definitely a productivity loss for us, so any help would be much appreciated.
Please let me know how I can security communicate our IP to the infra team.
