Gavin commented on INFRA-8497:
------------------------------

So you are better off staying where you are. The standard permissions lack the ability for
contributors to assign themselves issues - other than that the schemes are the same.

> Modify JIRA permissions for Apache Tez

>
> Key: INFRA-8497
> URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/INFRA-8497
> Project: Infrastructure
> Issue Type: Task
> Components: JIRA
> Reporter: Hitesh Shah

> Looking at the permissions and roles, I noticed the following that users in Project Role
(Contributors) are allowed to resolve and close issues. Could this be permission be removed
from the contributor role? We would like to restrict such resolving and closing to committers/PMC/admins.

> Also, could the Reporter also be disallowed from "Closing the jira"?
> Let me know if the above is not the usual way in which folks are using JIRA and if there
is a better recommended approach.
> As of now, we are using Contributors as anyone who wants to help contribute to the project
by filing jiras, providing patches, assigning jiras to themselves so as to volunteer their
effort for the jira issue in question.
