> (send this via mail to infrastructure@apache.org on 2014.07-23 but did not get any response
yet)
> As a newly elected committer I was trying to get my email config
> up'n'running in Thunderbird to be able to send from my apache.org
> address as stated on
> <http://www.apache.org/dev/user-email.html#via-smtp-based-mail-submission-service-recommended>
> At the moment I get wrong credentials error messages or Thunderbird
> says that the SMTP server rejects any connections.
> QUESTIONS
> Which credentials do I need to configure SMTP-sending via
> people.apache.org?
> * Neither 'myname@apache.org' nor 'myname' seems to work as username.
> * Which password is necessary LDAP or SSH?
> SOLUTION
> Could anyone augment the page with a detailed example such as
> {noformat}
> Username: yourid@apache.org
> Port: 465
> Server: people.apache.org
> Method of connection: SSL/TLS
> Method of password transfer: encrypted password
> Use your SSH password to connect before sending a mail.
> {noformat}
> to help newbies like me.
> Thanks for your help
