First it seems your application is not responding:

jani@ofbiz-vm:~$ wget https://ofbiz-vm.apache.org/catalog/control/main
--2014-06-22 09:21:32-- https://ofbiz-vm.apache.org/catalog/control/main
Resolving ofbiz-vm.apache.org (ofbiz-vm.apache.org)... 140.211.11.41
Connecting to ofbiz-vm.apache.org (ofbiz-vm.apache.org)|140.211.11.41|:443... failed: Connection
timed out.
Retrying.

Secondly, the handshake problem seems to originate for your self-signed cert. The proxy routes
the request through (I can see it arrive on the vm), but I think the vm sees a conflict between
the apache.org cert and your cert.

Because you use https, I cannot debug the traffic, so I cannot give you more details.

I can only recommend, as I have done earlier, dont use https on the vm, there are no security
reasons to use https, the public part is https (secured with the official cert).

You wrote to private@ and me earlier that the software actually has a switch to use http,
so why not do it simple.
