Subject [jira] [Commented] (INFRA-5589) Move http://updateext.services.openoffice.org to Apache hosting

Andrea Pescetti commented on INFRA-5589:
----------------------------------------

This is not dead yet.

updateexte.services.openoffice.org (note the extra "e") is the currently used URL, and it's
been redirected to SourceForge that is managing it.

As far as I know, no actions have been taken for updateext.services.openoffice.org (the one
specified here).

I'm reopening the issue but I'll check when we changed updateext to updateexte; if it is a
long, long time ago we can simply drop the issue and I'll close it.

Relevant info:

$ host updateext.services.openoffice.org
updateext.services.openoffice.org is an alias for ftp.osuosl.org.
ftp.osuosl.org has address 140.211.166.134
$ host updateexte.services.openoffice.org
updateexte.services.openoffice.org is an alias for aoo-extensions.sf.net.
aoo-extensions.sf.net has address 216.34.181.95

> The OpenOffice project is still using (for some, unspecified, legacy releases)
> updateext.services.openoffice.org
> to serve one XML file that contains information about extensions updates. This host is
still served by OSUOSL, who recently contacted Infra to get the host relocated to Apache.
> In short, we will need:
> - updateext.services.openoffice.org moved to Apache hosting
> - Answering GET requests for one static file: http://updateext.services.openoffice.org/ProductUpdateService/check.Update
(we will get PROPFIND request too, and they should be ignored)
> - Update that file on an hourly basis from http://extensions.openoffice.org/ProductUpdateService/check.Update
(via wget; in theory updateext.services.openoffice.org could be defined as an alias of extensions.openoffice.org,
but years ago the traffic was too big and the servers were decoupled)
> I'll add Lance from OSUOSL to CC in case we need more information from him.
