Subject [jira] [Commented] (INFRA-6402) Add Atlassian Stash as a hosting option

Chris Aniszczyk commented on INFRA-6402:

Stash would give us:

* powerful repository management with permissions from a global, project, repository down
to a branch level (this isn't possible in Git out of the box, you would have to use a tool
like Gerrit or Stash to have this type of support)
* user and groups can be managed in internally but Stash also supports using external directories
like LDAP, Crowd or JIRA directly. (where does ASF have its group and users?)
* Apache projects that use JIRA, Stash can show related JIRA issues on pull requests and commits
as well as code changes on the JIRA source tab
* Stash supports forks, public projects and repositories that can cater for different usage
scenarios (also provides more visibility in who forked what and the visibility of their branch
* Stash is extensible and provides a rich REST API but can also be extended via plugins (e.g.,
verify that someone has signed a CLA)

> Apache should use Stash to manage its Git repo.
> It's a great tool and integrates with Apache's existing infrastructure (JIRA) well.
> On top of that, it has a notion of pull requests which is great and helps give visibility
to what is going on in Git repos (which is difficult currently).
> I'm sure we can procure a free community license from Atlassian.
> How can I help make this happen?
