Sam Ruby commented on INFRA-3868:

1) "that list" needs to exist before I can include it. :-)

2) My preference is that advertised services that the infrastructure team provide are migrated
from whimsy to a more permanent home

3) I added code that provides a text/plain response if that's what the Accept header indicates
is desired. I also set the response code to 404 in such cases if the email address is not

> Moderators are required to validate subscription requests to certain private mail lists.
> It can be tedious checking whether access is allowed; and given that it is infrequent,
it can require extra effort to remember what is involved.
> The stages are:
> 1) determine what the subscription criteria are (e.g. ASF member)
> 2) Convert 3rd-party e-mail to ASF id if necessary
> 3) Check ASF id to see if they are a member or not
> It would help moderators if the subscription validation messages contained at least some
of the necessary information.
> This would require a script that can process an e-mail address and lookup the required
information, which can then be included in the moderator message.
> [A very crude solution would be just to include the procedure and pointers to the data
in the message; might help a bit]
