id.apache.org - unhelpful error message if password is omitted
--------------------------------------------------------------

                 Key: INFRA-3366
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/INFRA-3366
             Project: Infrastructure
          Issue Type: Bug
      Security Level: public (Regular issues)
            Reporter: Sebb
            Priority: Minor

If the password field is omitted, the error message is:

"Unspecified exception; logged"

which is not very helpful

At the bottom of the page it says:

DEBUG:
Unspecified exception: TypeError('argument 2 must be string or read-only buffer, not None',)

which may give a clue to someone that has relevant programming experience, but is not immediately
obvious either.

It might make more sense to treat a missing password the same as an invalid password.
