Luciano Resende commented on INFRA-2171:
----------------------------------------

Using the provided information gives the following error : Couldn't reach server. Please double-check
the server and port number.
Is there a waiting period for the changes to sync up and the service be available ?

> Google announced a new GMail feature today that lets folks send through an external SMTP
server:
> Previously, GMail only let folks set the From field in outgoing messages: Sender was
always set to their @gmail.com address. But Apache's mailing list tools only looks at the
Sender. Some folks would like to both use GMail, and to subscribe and moderate using their
@apache.org addresses, which is today not possible. But if Apache's mail server starting
permitting folks to send using SMTP auth then this would become possible.
