Niclas Hedhman commented on INFRA-2109:
---------------------------------------

And the 'resubscription';

Hi! This is the ezmlm program. I'm managing the
pivot-user@incubator.apache.org mailing list.

Acknowledgment: The address

  niclas@hedhman.org

was already on the pivot-user mailing list when I received
your request, and remains a subscriber.

--- Administrative commands for the pivot-user list ---

I can handle administrative requests automatically. Please
do not send them to the list address! Instead, send
your message to the correct command address:

To subscribe to the list, send a message to:
  <pivot-user-subscribe@incubator.apache.org>

To remove your address from the list, send a message to:
  <pivot-user-unsubscribe@incubator.apache.org>

Send mail to the following for info and FAQ for this list:
  <pivot-user-info@incubator.apache.org>
  <pivot-user-faq@incubator.apache.org>

Similar addresses exist for the digest list:
  <pivot-user-digest-subscribe@incubator.apache.org>
  <pivot-user-digest-unsubscribe@incubator.apache.org>

To get messages 123 through 145 (a maximum of 100 per request), mail:
  <pivot-user-get.123_145@incubator.apache.org>

To get an index with subject and author for messages 123-456 , mail:
  <pivot-user-index.123_456@incubator.apache.org>

They are always returned as sets of 100, max 2000 per request,
so you'll actually get 100-499.

To receive all messages with the same subject as message 12345,
send a short message to:
  <pivot-user-thread.12345@incubator.apache.org>

The messages should contain one line or word of text to avoid being
treated as sp@m, but I will ignore their content.
Only the ADDRESS you send to is important.

You can start a subscription for an alternate address,
for example "john@host.domain", just add a hyphen and your
address (with '=' instead of '@') after the command word:
<pivot-user-subscribe-john=host.domain@incubator.apache.org>

To stop subscription for this address, mail:
<pivot-user-unsubscribe-john=host.domain@incubator.apache.org>

In both cases, I'll send a confirmation message to that address. When
you receive it, simply reply to it to complete your subscription.

If despite following these instructions, you do not get the
desired results, please contact my owner at
pivot-user-owner@incubator.apache.org. Please be patient, my owner is a
lot slower than I am ;-)

--- Enclosed is a copy of the request I received.

> I am using mail aliases, so that I can send email FROM:niclas@hedhman.org using the GMail
client. This is a documented feature at GMail.
> Now, when I am sending subscription emails to Apache MLs, I need to use the extended
version (annoying but have been working often) as dev-subscribe-niclas=hedhman.org@abc.apache.org
and emails will arrive.
> However, whenever I send an email from the GMail client, EZMLM will use the "Return-Path:"
header to determine if I am subscribed or not. So, for mailing lists with a moderator, they
end up adding my GMail address to the allowed posters list, but for lists without moderator,
I am just not allowed to post, message bounces and if I am at that point trying to subscribe
again (like above) it will tell me that I am already subscribed.
> I have no idea why the FROM field is not used, but I have reached the boiling point of
what to tolerate. I don't know if this is a configuration of EZMLM or if it is hard coded
into it, but whatever it is, I need to change this. I am cut out from posting to community@apache.org
for this same reason (subscribed as niclas@apache.org as stipulated by instructions given)
and now at least one other list is in the same situation.
