So my whole point of getting into this discussion was to address the
who knew what about git/gerrit and to see about moving its
infrastructure off a zone into mainstream.

Infrastructurally, if labs has no objection to this and board@ doesn't
then go head with you lab.

That doesn't mean it wouldn't hurt to think about at least the
documentation portition of git.
