A few random comments:
-- No doubt about it, many normal humans percieve it to be difficult to
really dive into OS groups either due to lack of professional-looking
documentation, getting used to using mailing lists, not feeling they're
geeky enough to be worthy, whatever. Overall we're still spotty at
presenting a really great user experience for the average human. Much
better than even a year ago though! But I could see this making
article writers think that women in particular would have a harder time
 breaking into OS communities.

-- Humor about living arrangements:

-- OK: pool. Who do *you* think would be the first director to run out
of the house screaming, and how long would it take (in hours and
minutes)? Tiebreaker: who would be second?

-- Everyone make a saving throw against wisdom to prevent that image
from sticking in their head all day... 8-)
