Hi,

Following is the error that we find on /usr/local/apache/logs/error_log

[Sat Aug 18 10:50:02 2001] [warn] child process 23944 did not exit, sending
another SIGHUP
[Sat Aug 18 10:50:02 2001] [warn] child process 23945 did not exit, sending
another SIGHUP
[Sat Aug 18 10:50:02 2001] [warn] child process 23946 did not exit, sending
another SIGHUP
[Sat Aug 18 10:50:02 2001] [warn] child process 23949 did not exit, sending
another SIGHUP
[Sat Aug 18 10:50:02 2001] [warn] child process 24161 did not exit, sending
another SIGHUP
[Sat Aug 18 10:50:02 2001] [notice] SIGHUP received.  Attempting to restart
[Sat Aug 18 10:50:02 2001] [notice] Apache/1.3.12 (Unix) PHP/4.0.5-dev
configured -- resuming normal operations

We have changed the maxservers limit to 256 and the HARD SERVER LIMIT to 1024
still we are getting the above error and the site gets down often.
Can u suggest what exactly has to be done. Further to the below mail , this site
gets maximum hits more that 150 connections simultaneously.Should we need to
change any configuration.

Sorry, we are not mind readers.  We have no idea what you are asking here.

I see nothing to indicate any bug.  Either your machine is very heavily loaded
or you have some module that is making the server slow to respond to restarts.
