I just committed the final part of this report (the patch to
server/core.c to match A records when the server has an
IPv6 listening socket and the client connects over IPv4).

Not a clean way...  After configure, you can edit 
srclib/apr/include/apr.h and set APR_HAVE_IPV6 to zero.

I'll list this as a nice-to-have in the APR STATUS file.
